The run begins at Ralph Stout Park in Mountain City, and follows a course that will take runners through the heart of our picturesque town, where they will be greeted by the owners of the cafes, shops, and art center that line main street. They will circle the Johnson County High School, home of the Longhorns, and the recipient of funds from The Mammoth. Passing by the historic homes of Church Street, and Heritage Hall, our performing arts center on College Street, the route will lead back to the park. At this point the 5K runners will have completed their challenge.
The 10K runners will continue along Shady Street to the Highway 91 bypass, and begin climbing towards the mountains! The route goes uphill and then down to Johnson Hollow Road. Beautiful rolling pastures and weathered wooden barns line the route which leads to Cold Spring Lane. Here runners will make their way back to Shady Street and on to Ralph Stout Park and the finish line.
